Presented by Willow Shawanoo-Kechego from the Niagara Regional Native Centre.

“Travel with us as we unpack some of the baggage we as Indigenous people must carry and update your carry-on as we begin to take steps on this journey together. We will look at where we are today, discuss some of the headline history along with break down some of that old luggage. In unity, we can bring light to the truth and start the path to reconciliation.”

Willow Shawanoo-Kechego is Anishainaabekwe, Ojibway from Kettle and Stoney Point, Turtle Clan, living in St. Catharines with her spouse and their three children. As an intergenerational survivor, she has used her intergenerational strengths to graduate from Brock in 2013 with two degrees in History and Sociology. Willow is a long-time and active community member currently working at the Niagara Regional Native Centre’s Indigenous Community Justice Program. Throughout her tenure at the Centre she has held numerous roles and continues to be an advocate for her community.
